Module 1: 1.5.6 Defensive Driving
- 1.5.6 The Golden Rules of Defensive Driving
-
To become a good defensive driver, you should follow these five rules while being on the road:
-
- Use Signals: Turn signals or indicators allow others to know about your plans of making any turns or changing lanes. Use these turn signals even when others around you are not using them.
- Keep a Safe Distance: While following the car in front of you, always keep a safe distance. Even if others cut you in front, keep dropping back and maintain a safe distance.
- Avoid Tailgaters: Tailgaters can often be annoying. Although you may urge to resist them, please don’t do it and try avoiding them at all costs.
- Be Courteous with Your Vehicle’s Lights: Sometimes, people forget to turn off their lights, and as a result, their vehicle’s lights shine directly in your eyes. Please resist the urge to turn your lights up to teach them a lesson during these moments.
- Being Respectful with Slow Drivers: Old age or physical disability can slow some drivers. Therefore, be respectful of their conditions.
