Module 1: 1.6.3 Mental & Physical Conditions that Affect Driving
- 1.6.3 Hearing problems
A person with impaired hearing might not know the sounds of upcoming vehicles and the horns of the cars passing by. Hearing problems also make one unable to pay attention to the sounds of the emergency vehicles. Therefore, it is recommended that such people should stay more alert visually. They should keep checking their vehicle’s mirrors after every three to five seconds. Loud radio sounds also interfere with the hearing process, so keeping the volume low while driving is best. Also, a hearing-impaired person should wear a hearing aid.
